On an especially warm Saturday afternoon on November 21, a group of community members, friends, and supporters gathered at the entrance to BLOX to celebrate the grand opening of BLOX and its tenant eatery, Wax Paper. The celebration included the unveiling of a new piece of artwork by local artist, Bill Lagattuta. Councilman Mitch O’Farrell attended the event and formally opened the BLOX campus by participating in a ribbon cutting ceremony that unveiled the colorful 18’ wide by 6’ high mural that sheaths the main entrance to BLOX. Well deserved and heartfelt commendations were made to FSY’s team and Wax Paper entrepreneurs Lauren and Peter Lemos. The occasion was significant as it celebrated the opening of Wax Paper, the first neighborhood eatery in Elysian Valley. Also, the permanent unveiling of Bill Lagattuta’s painting serves as the official opening of BLOX’s doors, bringing colorful art as well as delicious food to the wonderful neighborhood of Elysian Valley. Food and wine, compliments of the chefs, were served with plenty of good cheer to go around, which made for a wonderful and well spent afternoon along the river.
