In the historic core along Main Street, the Old Town Temecula Community Theatre provides a flexible performance and educational space for the local community and San Jacinto Community College. The new theatre building was carefully scaled and detailed to not only complement the existing architectural heritage of Old Town, but to serve as an iconic landmark in the area. The historic Mercantile Building (c. 1892), fronting onto Main Street, was structurally upgraded and adaptively reused to function as a lobby, art gallery and intimate cabaret performance space for the new facility. A landscaped courtyard and covered walkway unifies the existing historic building with the new theatre building. The Project’s orientation and location, directly adjacent to the scenic Murrieta Creek, offers impressive mountain views to the west.
The 300-seat facility includes a dance studio, scene shop, classrooms and theatre support spaces.
