Vision Theatre / Manchester Jr. Arts Center

About This Project

The Vision Theatre (formerly Leimert Theatre) is considered “exemplary” as one of the last two great Art Deco theaters remaining in Los Angeles, and has been deemed eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.  The Vision Theatre/Manchester Jr. Arts Center project involves the adaptive re-use, historic restoration, and expansion of the original Leimert Theatre (built in 1931 as a 1050-seat movie house) into a flexible state-of-the art performing arts facility with stadium seating for 750, variable acoustics, a stage flytower, hydraulic stage lift, and full support spaces.

The Manchester Jr. Arts Center, situated on the second floor, provides educational arts programs for youth in the community. The restored and upgraded building has revived the historic ‘cornerpiece’ of the 1930’s Liemert Park subdivision’s business district and is planned to be the catalyst for redevelopment in the Liemert Park Village.
